Somehow I did not like this article, I just felt that he made arguments for the sake of arguing. It is like, if I dont steal that lady's purse some else might anyway steal it, so let me do it.

I believe in India too they should subsidize cycles making them feasible instead of giving the many subsidies on fuel -

my experience on the campus at San Diego was consistent: bike faster than car faster than campus shuttle. With a bike, one could zoom through special bike lanes and take shortcuts between buildings and across parking lots :)
