Graduate Entrepreneurship Training through Information Technology (GET-IT)

 The Program

TIDE(Technology Informatics Design Endeavour) has a training program on Technology based Microenterprise Training for students or unemployed youth. The objective of this training is to help under- or unemployed young people with business and IT skills – helping them find a job or start their own businesses. TIDE has been trained by Microenterprise Acceleration Institute (http://www.mea-i.org), who has developed this curriculum.

The training provides business IT skills that combine the basics of entrepreneurship with practical, hands-on experience in technology. This exposes the trainees to a range of technology tools to help them in their business, but does not prescribe solutions. It informs the trainees of the various technologies and equips them to consider whether the features of the technology are useful to them. It enables them to make informed choices about future technology investments and training. The program does not aim to replace either technology or other business training courses, but to give a more practical perspective with respect to ones business.

Goals
·         Gain awareness and comfort with ICT
·         Gain knowledge and skills in the business applications of ICT
·         Develop ability to assess their needs for further training and technology investment.

At the end of the training the trainees will be able to do the following:

·         Describe different ICT technology solutions that address different challenges businesses face in the areas of Management and Operations, Finances, Communication, and Marketing
·         Explain the application of various ICT technologies that may enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of businesses
·         Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of certain technologies
·         Apply ICT technologies to different business challenges and opportunities
·         Evaluate and upgrade their skills using different ICT technologies
·         Evaluate their need for, or interest in, further knowledge, training, or ICT purchases
