Omashram is a Charitable Trust founded in 2001 with the objective of providing care and succor to the old. It is the brainchild of Mr. Mohan Pai, formerly from the field of Advertising and Marketing and author of two books “The Western Ghats” and the “Elderly” and Ms Geeta Shankar a dedicated social worker. Omashram provides care and
comfort in the evening of their lives to old people, drawn from the poor and middle class, abandoned by their families.

We are in urgent need of financial support for running the day-to-day needs of the Omashram. Our needs are listed below:

The following are the major monthly expenses for our Ashram.

During the last five years the Old Age Home had to be shifted thrice from one premises to the other as the landlords asked for vacation of the premises and therefore, Omashram was compelled to immediately look for new premises. If we could acquire a land of a minimum 100 by 100 in a quiet and serene locality, we could be able to construct our own infrastructure to enable us to carry out our services and meet our aims and objectives as said below:-

To build a double storied structure—Ground floor consisting of 25 beds for the aged-with complete medical aid and care for the residents who are drawn from poor and middle class families and sort of abandoned by their families.

To provide full boarding and lodging facilities, personal nursing, medical care by a doctor on call, a library, and
occupational/recreational diversions for the aged.

The first floor would be designed to house 25 orphaned children in order to facilitate the living together of the young and the old-which would enable both the generations to share the little pleasures which each of them were deprived of in the normal course.

We would also provide free medical services to the aged poor residents as well as the children of the locality.

The other requirement urgently to be met is the need of a vehicle-ambulance for the benefit of our aged inmates.
