Greetings from GiveIndia. As a part of our continuous efforts to reach out and let you know how your donations make an impact, we thought it would be apt to share with you the story of Sharad Jitkar - a visually challenged elderly who found care and shelter thanks to a donor such as yourself.

Resident of Amravati, Sharad Jitkar, had taken up photography as a profession at a young age - when he lost his parents and was forced to quit school and earn a living. Over the years, the nature of work began to hurt his eyes. But with no educational qualifications and a family - a wife and two daughters - to support, there was no way he would let go off the income, however meagre it may have been. So, he continued to work to support his family and earn enough to get his daughters married well. When the time came, he even took financial help from his brother and ensured that his daughters were properly settled.

Today, at the age of 68, he is a widower and visually-challenged. He is unable to earn a living and needs help on a daily basis - which he gets from the NGO Janaseva Foundation, thanks to donors like you. While Sharad will be taken care of, there are many others like him who have given everything for their families and are not able to provide for themselves in their old age.
