Need DANCE INSTRUCTORS and GIRLS for a performance @ shelter home, Bandra East.

As Diwali approaches, our group of volunteers at BECC Boys Shelter Home is planning on what to we do every year – The BECC Diwali Party!! Usually we have kandil making, rangoli drawing and dance performances. Dances have always been a favourite, and this time we want to take things up one level: by trying to organize in such a way that the Shelter Home boys can team up with girls (maybe from some other shelter home or simply some other school) and put up a joint performance.

So, yes, you heard it right: can someone get the girls? J But this is serious. I’ll help organize the logistics of getting the troupe to a hall where they can practice (the BECC premises have a hall which is quite suitable) but we need someone who visits girls shelter homes to take the lead and get the girls enthused and seek permissions.

And, yes, can some good dancer please step forward? The instructor will have to teach the troupe steps that can be learnt in 3-4 rehearsals. Many of the BECC boys are naturally good dancers. last year they performed hits from Rang de Basanti. We will be happy to give the instructor publicity in our posters but cannot promise a financial reimbursement at this stage.

I plan to be in Mumbai on 23rd-24th  (Sat-Sun) October to organize the rehearsals; so want to get matters organized by then. The sooner the better. (Dance hall, dance troupe (BECC boys and the yet unidentified girls and the dance all need to be identified.)

Something about me: I work as a technology journalist and run a cycling adventure company in Goa; been associated with BECC for the last five years spending time on Sundays working with other team members on projects that included running a library, teaching the inmates, arranging basketball games and organizing BECC parties.

Something about BECC Shelter Home: Run by the BECC Trust, the Shelter Home has school-going children who have lost their parents/wardens or whose parents/wardens are unable to provide for them. Please find more information at http://www.beccindia.org/
