Samaritan Help Mission is a very small charity educational institution based in the worst slum Tikipara in Howrah District in West Bengal, India. With the population ratio 80% Muslim and 20% Non-Muslim.

It was started by a 32 years youth Mamoon Akhtar a librarian having left hand polio affected, and living in the same slum, Started the mission with the motto HELP PEOPLE ON NEED NOT ON CREED in a small thatched room, teaching children in the lantern and motive to save the children falling prey to the drug mafia, who are very poor, father work as Rickshaw puller mother work as house maid, and taking advantage of the poverty faced by the poor children, they are forcibly pushed in this trade by mafia, and they never get a chance to see the school, and when they grew up they become hard core criminal, and the society suffer most,

Mamoon work as a librarian in a small local school with a minimum salary of 3500/- per month, He started the Mission of saving the children in the year 1999, with the help of his few friends, He started a small school in a 600 sqft of land which he inherited from his late father, He donated the land as well as built a small school with all his saving of his life to give a better future to the unfortunate children of the worst slum of Tikipara Howrah West Bengal.

OUR VOLUNTEER, WHO ARE THEY?

The SHM is a Volunteer based institution, work is carried out by the most of the volunteers, there is not a single paid staff, the College going girls render their voluntary service of teaching the Poor Children, and also keeping track of the performance of each child who were send to school, in lieu the girls are been paid an honorarium of Rs.200/- each to enable them to continue their own education, The Volunteers consist of every caste that had secular feeling towards country and for each other with lots of love towards children.

Lack of education among the children make the easy target of infusing a venom of Communal thoughts by the religious fanatics, Our Mission is to empower the Children of our present generation with the weapon of education so that our future generation will not fight with their neighbor brother in the Name of Mandir and Masjid and they all will join hand to build a better and prosperous India, Which our forefather has dreamt, and slowly we all are moving towards

PROJECTS: -

ILLITERACY ELIMINATION PROGRAM: - our main projects to eradicate illiteracy among the children living in the slum of Tikipara Howrah and were involved in drug trafficking and peddling. Father works as Rickshaw puller/thela Puller and addicted to drug / alcohol,

VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMM (Under the name of Girl Child Empowerment & Self Reliant Program for the underprivileged women and girl Child living in the slum of Tikipara, working as housemaid, and involved in other nefarious activities, the course includes Dress making Hand Embroidery Fabric Painting, each of the trainees are earning a handsome income for their family and leading their life in respect and dignity.

COMPUTER LITERACY PROGRAMME: - The Computer Literacy Program is for the Girls of the Slum, who have a distant dream of accessing computer education,

SAMARITAN KINDERGARTEN PROGRAMM: - Kinderagrten program is for the poor slum children under the age of 3 years, whose parents especially mother work as housemaid, father either working as daily laborers or working as Rickshaw / cart puller and are addicted to alcohol or drugs.

Mostly the new born child when he/she attain the age of 3 years, and mother leaves for her daily work, He / she been left in the surrounding of Slum, to some relatives house and there no one cares, and the child left without care and roam hither and thither viewing all such things happening in the surrounding and they never go to school which their thought and brain catches and that affect his/her development, Children are like a sapling, we need to nourish them from early age.

GUARDIAN & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: - SHM believes that anything given with out free of cost will loose the value and importance, In our regular mother monthly meeting of motivation we aware them that, nothing gets free in this world, We must pay something what we are all benefiting, The guardians agree to our view, Hence a small fee of Rs.5/,Rs.10/ is been charged from the Guardians towards, Education, Computer Literacy & VT Programmes.

ACHIEVEMENT

We started with only with 6 children, now there is 520 Children in all the educational Program such as Illiteracy Elimination, Montessori, and in Vocational Training Program 200 poor Girls mostly abandoned by their husband, widows, and poor unmarried girls.

Our achievement is that in the past those children who were been called a drug trafficker and peddler are now called Underprivileged child, and within few years this society will compel to call him the privileged child of India. Our Mission is to remove the word UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILD from the name of all the poor child of our country.

FUTURE PLANS,

1) Our future Plans is to establish a full fledge School in Tikipara Howrah Slum especially for the Girl Child, The building has been purchased for starting a full fledge school upto Class X We believe that educating a girl child means, educating a whole generation of that poor family, because a Literate mother will not left her child illiterate at any cost, Our Mission is also that not a single child of our country should deprived with the basic right of education and empowerment,

2) A piece of Land of 1800 Sqft have been donated by one Gentleman an about 6KM away from the Tikipara a place called Bankra, very poor area the condition of the children are as worst as Tikipara, There is not a single school in the radius of 1KM and a school is urgent needed there,
