Subject: Financial Assistance for my daughter

Dear Rama,

My daughter (Hrithika) who is 7 months old now needs to undergo Liver transplantation within one month from now. Doctors say a
liver transplant is critical to her survival.
She was operated with Kasai Procedure when she was 50 days old as she was suffering from Biliary atresia. Biliary atresia is a blockage in the tubes (ducts) that carry a liquid called bile from the liver to the gallbladder. We were told that this happens in one in every
10000 babies. The condition is congenital, which means it is present from birth.

Post Kasai procedure, she was doing normal for up to 2 months but thereon her stomach continued to swell. This procedure they termed as Ascites, which means fluid accumulation in stomach. They informed that although Kasai procedure was partially successful her Liver is not functioning properly now. Before the Kasai procedure, her stool was white in color and her Jaundice level was high. Now, after Kasai, she is better as her Total Bilirubin (Jaundice level) came down from 11.5 to 5.5 and also passing yellow stool.

I have attached some of the scan documents which Doctor at Rainbow prescribed for your reference. I will be sending you the latest scanned docs.

For Liver transplantation, the total expense is approximately INR 25 lakhs as per doctor, which includes surgery and medical expense. Post surgery she needs to be on immunosuppressive drugs for some
weeks, which are very expensive. Currently, we are treating her at Rainbow hospital and as per doctor's advice we are planning to perform the liver transplantation at Global Hospitals, Hyderabad.

I request financial support from you, your organization and from your friends to meet the expenditure for this complex surgery. Any help on this will be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,
-Vijay Kumar U
