Subject: Invitation to the First Anniversary Program of Janta Ka Aaina

    Dear Chandni,

We are glad to announce that our Hindi weekly newspaper 'Janta Ka Aaina' has completed one year with your valuable support. In this one year, Janta Ka Aaina has remained committed towards its goal to shed light on the voice of the last common man.

In Janta Ka Aaina, we cover all sorts of issues of the common man that main stream media does not raise. We do not work for any commercial interests, instead we work towards reporting these stories as a mission. From sanitary problems in slums, undernourished children and public abuse of a Dalit girl to socio-political issues like fishermen being imprisoned, Janta Ka Aaina has tried to become an open platform till the last common man. We have also published many Annexure 2 to inform people if they will get proper housing from builders or not. This exposed the lies of some builders and fueled a movement against them by people to reclaim their houses.

On this auspicious occasion of our one-year anniversary, we are organizing a discussion on 'Role of Mainstream Media in raising the voice of the last common man and our role in progressing it forward'. We will also launch our book 'Humara Ghar, Humara Adhikaar' on the Slum Rehabilitation Scheme.

We request you to come together with us to participate in this discussion. This event will be held at the Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh, 2nd Floor, CST Mumbai on 17th June, 2011 at 4:30 pm.

Regards

Shakil Ahmed
