Situation Report – 08th September, 2011
1. WEST BENGAL
Situation Update:
Howrah, Malda and Hooghly districts are still more affected ones.
Water receding in all districts.
North and South 24 Parganas and East and West Midnapore: water is receding and no serious situations.
With receding water, WASH needs are emerging. Safe drinking water, sanitation, hygiene kits, toilets are important.
Govt. has called off the flood situation (26th August, 2011) in different districts, so the food relief from Govt. has also stopped.
Medicines, ORS and other such medical needs are prevalent alongwith WASH needs.
Heavy damage has happened to crops (both food and cash crops) thus affecting the livelihood of the communities.
