Situation Report – 08th September, 2011
 
1. WEST BENGAL
 
Situation Update:
 
 Howrah, Malda and Hooghly districts are still more affected ones.
 Water receding in all districts.
 North and South 24 Parganas and East and West Midnapore: water is receding and no serious situations.
 With receding water, WASH needs are emerging. Safe drinking water, sanitation, hygiene kits, toilets are important.
 Govt. has called off the flood situation (26th August, 2011) in different districts, so the food relief from Govt. has also stopped.
 Medicines, ORS and other such medical needs are prevalent alongwith WASH needs.
 Heavy damage has happened to crops (both food and cash crops) thus affecting the livelihood of the communities.
