In memory of Uncle Pai, the Amar Chitra Katha Scholarships for
children between 10-15 years of age was launched by Amar Chitra Katha
(ACK) Media on Thursday. The scholarships will range from Rs11 lakh to
Rs5,000, will cover over 70 cities and is open to children across the
Samir Patil, chief executive officer of ACK Media, said, “This is one
of the most open and inclusive scholarship designs of its kind and also
one with the largest reach. We are keen on expanding the interest of
the next generation in Indian heroes and culture.” “The national winner will get a scholarship of Rs11 lakh, which will
help fund academic and extra-curricular pursuits,” said Ashni Biyani,
director of Future Ideas, the art wing of the Future Group.
The free scholarship
forms will be available online and in all Big Bazaar stores across India
from July 14 to August 7. Forms can also be downloaded from http://amarchitrakatha.com.
The scholarship evaluation is based on a written quiz
on India. The quiz has both multiple choices and long-form
questions.The quiz will be evaluated by a panel of three eminent judges.
The scholarship awardees will be announced in a grand finale on
Children’s Day on November 14, 2011.
