Organization

Anantapur district has a long and illustrious heritage of voluntarism starting from 1960.  The pioneering works of voluntary organizations in the district involve models of organization, mobilization and unionization of Agricultural laborers, Marginal farmers, marginalized sections of the society i.e. Dalits, and STs integrated Rural Development, Animal Welfare, Regeneration of women and children, Community health, AIDS Awareness, Watershed Development, Regeneration of De-graded lands and hillocks etc.

SOCIETY for ANIMAL INITIATIVES (SAI) is a registered voluntary organization initiated by educated youth in the year 2005 and has been working on rural educational development activities in its project area, with the collaboration of Govt and non-government organizations, giving priority to the downtrodden communities.

 

GOAL:

To bring the socially and economically downtrodden communities into the mainstream of development by empowering them and build relationship among themselves for their integrated development.

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

v  To undertake Rural Development activities for the sustainable livelihoods of rural poor.

v  To undertake Animal welfare programmes.

v  To undertake Rural Housing, Sanitation, Rural health, AIDS Awareness, Rural education, and NRM activities

v  To form women SHGs

v  To obtain Grant-in-Aid, Loans from Govt. and other Financial Institutions for attainment of Aims and Objectives

v  To undertake Social welfare programmes.

STRENGTHS OF THE ORGANISATION:

Ø  The president of this organization is having much familiar to the development issues of rural people, as he has been associated and worked in the field of rural development.

Ø  The Executive secretary of the organization is a graduate and he has been associated with ecology and environmental issues and awareness giving methodology as well as developmental concepts.

Ø  The President has undergone various training programmes on participatory mechanism in ecology and environment, Programme assessment and development.

STAFF:

 The organization is having enough staff, which is required for Animal Welfare, Environmental and Educational Development activities.

SAI is registered under Societies registration Act-35 of 2001.

SOCIETY for ANIMAL INITIATIVES (SAI) has a strong belief that the development intervention should need people, as main actors of the programme. Keeping this in mind it is concentrating in involvement of people as the owners of all its activities. Main focus has been given involving of Women, Farmers, Disabled, Students and User groups.
