Forbes India Philanthropy Awards 2012
We are glad to bring to you the inaugural Forbes India Philanthropy Awards. These awards aim to recognise, applaud and reward the efforts of the best of this breed, the organisations and individuals who have not just given time, money, skill and expertise, but have created model institutions that will inspire others and show them the way. The ones, in short, who demonstrate that business can be a force for good.

GiveIndia is partnering with Forbes India as the Knowledge Partners for this award. An invitation from the Editor of Forbes India has been attached below. We have helped them draw up a shortlist for seven categories. But for three categories, we decided that we will invite nominations from all of you. These are:

1. The Good Samaritan Award
This award is for an exceptional individual at any level in a company who has successfully led and galvanised support within the organisation to mount programs that help more people within that organisation to support worthy causes and give back to society. This will be based on nominations by his/her company.

2. The Cause Marketing Award
This award is for a company that has successfully marketed products or services in conjunction with a charity and brought significant benefits to both parties.

3. Outstanding Corporate Foundation
This award will honour foundations that have taken up a social issue and have long term vision, strategy, a sustainable model and have created significant impact in their chosen areas.

The last day for filing nominations is September 10, 2012. So do hurry!!!

Do you know a hero?

For the inaugural Forbes India Philanthropy Awards, we need your help.

We’re looking for individuals and companies who see themselves as part of society. People and organisations who look around and see that much needs to be done to make India a place where growth is not restricted to just a few. And who choose to do something about it, who have not just given time, money, skill and expertise, but have created model institutions that will inspire others and show them the way.

For some of our categories, we’re working with our Knowledge Partner, GiveIndia, to draw up short lists. But in three categories, we can’t possibly find out about everyone doing something worthwhile. Our country is just too big for that.

Unless you can help.

Do you know of:

An individual at any level in a company who has successfully led and galvanised support for worthy causes?
A company that has successfully marketed products or services in partnership with a charity?
A corporate foundation that has taken up a social issue with a long term vision and a sustainable model, and has already created an impact?

Perhaps it’s you, or your organisation? Then please click through to our nominations page to let us know.

Perhaps you know of someone else, or an organisation you don’t work with, who fits the bill? Then please forward this link or this entire email to them.

Neither option applies? You can still help out by forwarding this email widely, linking to our site via your Facebook, LinkedIn or Google+ pages, or Tweeting about it.

And if you’ve read this far, we’re reasonably sure that you’re one of those people who wants to make a difference too. We suggest that you keep in touch with the stories we post on forbesindia.com - you might get some ideas of your own, and next year, you could be among the nominees too.

Our best wishes to you,

Indrajit Gupta
