I'm not sure how active this forum is. I know there is a lot of discussion here about rural electrification and there has been an overwhelming list of NGO's involved with that these days. Is rural electrification still a major need in India? I live in the US and don’t know about all the initiatives that are currently happening in India, but I would like to collaborate with any NGO that is working on this right now. I founded a non-profit in the US, Lightafamily.org, focused on creating social and economical values in rural India. I will be in India next month visiting the villages in Southern Orissa as part of my pilot program and give away few hundred solar lamps. I’m not necessarily looking into rural electrification area, but more into solving social problems like preventing the death of new born babies, providing good hygienic/clean environment for children’s to study/play etc..
