Change.org: A social network around changes you want to see in the world
Change.org is a full featured Web2.0 site, built around what people want to change in the world around them. You can create a profile and specify what things you would like to change, and find other people who are interesting in similar things, and discuss with them. You can add NGOs and politicians (!) to these topics. They have a system to allow making donations for the NGOs or the politicians. They take a 4.5% cut from every donation made on the website (which is probably used to sustain the website).

A very similar website is Razoo.com, which is based around "what's your passion"! Here also you can donate money.
Note that both Change.org and Razoo also have facebook applications that allow donations.
You mean, some politicians are also on the network? I wouldn't be surprised though! Hopefully all this wouldn't vanish as just another fad. It is probably a great opportunity for NGOs, but they need to get their work organized to tap into this renewed sense of public activism. Similarly, probably political systems also need to change, but nobody knows how. There are very interesting projects underway -- let's see how it goes. http://www.debatepedia.com and http://www.hearfromyourmp.com/ and http://www.avaaz.org/en/
Oh yes, and very openly! I wonder who makes donations to them, but there are people who do.
